Welcome to the Website of the SmartShunt - The Hydrocephalus Project!
Laboratories from ETH Zurich, the University Hospital Basel, the University of Western Australia, the University Hospital Lausanne and the Medical University Graz collaborate to carry out the basic research necessary for the subsequent development of a smart cerebrospinal fluid shunt for normal pressure hydrocephalus that addresses the key shortcomings of current shunt technology: infections, poor CSF flow control and mechanical failure.
